I'm not sure who all we told about this situation but here it is. When Harlie was born they found a dimple in her butt crack (there's not a better way to say it) They doctors at the hospital ordered a sonagram. With that they found a cyst on the base of her spine ( above her tushy). So he wanted her to see a neurologist. We took her to her healthy baby check up, and that doctor ordered a referral ( military insurance has to have a doctor request for us to go to a specialist of any kind). So we took her on wednesday all the way to Sacramento. Now, this whole time I'm not worried. Jesse has cysts that are benign, Diane says the women in their family have them all the time. So we follow the directions to the Neurologists office...and we pull up to a cancer center. I'm not sure if anyone has felt this before. This ultimate panic, I didn't want to take her in! But we did. The Doctor looked at her dimple and he said that the location ( down low on her booty) meant it's more than likely nothing. What they were checking for is Spina Bifida, which is further up on the spine. Then he checks her reflexes. He pushed her foot toward her leg, and it shuddered back against him. He stopped and said that action coupled with the cyst could mean bigger things. Thats basically all he said. It seemed to us that he was leaving information out, so as not to scare us. So, he wants us to come back when she is 6 months old to have an MRI done to see the cyst. So thats where we are right now. We are going to talk to her pediatrician and see if we can get a second oppinion, just to be safe
